Garth Brooks apparently has some friends in high places as well.

The Irish Mirror says residents near Dublin's Croke Park, where the country superstar is slated to launch his comeback next month, are angry because the Dublin City Council has decided against meeting with them over the shows.

The council explains in a letter to residents that they've received more than 370 written statements regarding the matter, "most of which were extremely detailed," so they have no need for additional testimony in a hearing.

Croke Park authorities are limited to staging just three concerts a year, and the stadium hosted three One Direction shows in May.  Brooks is slated to play a five-night stand at the venue next month.

Stadium director Peter McKenna says organizers are allowed to apply for a license to stage other events, and he's confident their request for the Brooks shows will be granted.  He adds that they proved with the One Direction concerts that they can accommodate large crowds with minimal disruption to residents.  An estimated 400,000 fans are expected to come to Croke Park for Brooks' shows, which are scheduled for July 25th through the 29th.
