The Salvation Army is partnering with University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity for Just Can It, a food drive and homelessness awareness event to benefit Salvation Army food pantries.
The 11th annual Just Can It is March 31 – April 4 at Crossroads Mall where UNO students sleep outdoors in cardboard homes and accept donations of money and non-perishable food during the week.
The kick-off is today, March 31st, at 12:00 noon at Crossroads Mall.
Expected at the rally are UNO Chancellor John Christensen, Omaha City Councilman Pete Festersen, Battalion Chief Tim McCaw and members of the Omaha Fire Department, UNO students and Salvation Army leadership.
Items on the wish list include: canned stews and soups, cereal, canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, canned beans and vegetables, boxed macaroni and cheese, boxed dinners, and boxed or bagged rice products.
Donations may be dropped off at Crossroads Mall through April 4th, or any neighborhood fire station year round.
