Family Of Murdered Girl Calls For Peace

Tabatha Manning says she wants justice for her daughter Payton Benson's death. She was shot and killed inside her home near 45th and Bedford Wednesday morning.

During a news conference on Thursday, Manning asked the public to let police handle the investigation and urged those responsible to come forward.

"I would like to ask the community to help me in forgiving those who are responsible for this. I don't want any retaliation," Manning says.

Omaha Police say the stray bullet was connected to a shooting a block from the home and involved multiple weapons.

Manning says her daughter was always smiling and had a very soft voice.  She enjoyed playing with barbies and having her hair done.  She was also excited about starting school next fall.

A memorial fund has been set up at American National Bank and the reward through CrimeStoppers has grown to $25-thousand.  Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 444-STOP
