A frightening situation for a 12 year old girl who was home alone Tuesday morning.  Around 10:30 she heard someone kick in the back door of her home near 76th and Seward.

Lt. Marcia Janucik tells Newsradio 1110 KFAB the girl ran into the bathroom and locked herself inside.  She then called 911.  When officers arrived, Janucik says the girl was climbing out of a window and the suspect was running from the house.

The girl suffered a minor injury while making her escape.  Police say a the man who broke into the house has not been caught.  A second man seen running from the area was taken in for questioning, but no arrests have been made yet.

Janucik praised the girl for her quick thinking. "She did a great job. She called us immediately and stayed calm."
