Gas prices have dropped about 35-cents a gallon over the past few weeks but Rose White with AAA - Nebraska says that might be short lived.
A fire at the refinery at Coffeyville, Kansas put it out of commission and repairs could take up to four weeks. White says problems at another Kansas refinery and one in Indiana forced them to cut production. Those production issues could push gas prices higher.
White says the silver lining is there are good supplies in inventory levels and that could cushion the blow of a huge price hike. She says prices are holding for now but that could change at any moment.
White says gas prices now in Nebraska average $3.39 for self-serve unleaded. The Iowa average is a few pennies lower at $3.36. The national average is $3.47.
