The family of Jennifer Siemens say they are pleased with the sentence a judge gave 29 year old Jefferson Potter on Tuesday.

Potter stole a lawn truck on June 7 at 33rd and Arbor and was driving at a high rate of speed when he slammed into the back of the car that Siemens was riding in at Saddle Creek and Leavenworth.  She was killed and her boyfriend injured.

Potter tried to run from the scene but several witnesses held him until police arrived.  Police also found that Potter was carrying a loaded handgun in his back pocket.

He will have to serve at least 27 1/2 years before being eligible for parole.
