NFL Draft

AP:

The New Orleans Saints have selected Nebraska cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste in Friday night's second round of the NFL draft.  Jean-Baptiste, selected 58th overall, joins a defense that ranked fourth in the NFL last season, and he'll be able to learn from a highly accomplished cornerback in Champ Bailey, whom the Saints acquired in free-agency this off-season.

The 6-foot-3, 218-pound Jean-Baptise was among top performers in both the vertical jump and broad jump at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.  He intercepted four passes for Nebraska last season, returning one for a touchdown.

New Orleans entered Friday without a pick in the third round, having traded it to Arizona during Thursday night's first round that allowed the Saints to take Oregon State receiver Brandin Cooks 20th overall.

Also - The Washington Redskins have selected guard Spencer Long of Nebraska with their second pick in the third round of the NFL draft.  Long was chose Friday at number 78 overall.

Long was a regular starter at right guard for two-plus years for the Cornhuskers before tearing the MCL in his left knee six games into last season.  Long said his knee is now fine and that he will be able to take part in rookie minicamp next weekend.
