Nikko Jenkins To Represent Himself

Nikko Jenkins To Represent Himself

(A-P)

On Friday a Douglas County judge said that Nikko Jenkins can act as his own attorney in his murder trial.

Judge Peter Batallion warned Jenkins that defending himself  "would be very difficult for any lawyer'' and that he could be represented by Douglas County Public Defender Tom Riley.

Jenkins said he undestands the risks, but that he is "intellectually able to represent myself.''  He'll receive advice from a public defender, and be allowed to access video evidence of police interviews.

Jenkins is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the August deaths of Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford and Andrea Kruger.
