Even after this week's tornadoes in Pilger and Coleridge, another tornado resonates with folks in our area.
It was April 9, 2011 when an EF-3 tornado slammed into Mapleton, Iowa. Fred Standa was the mayor of Mapleton at the time. He said there were roughly 14-hundred people in town when the twister raked a significant portion of town, and "most of them came back. We lost businesses; most of them came back. But for the most part, you'd never know today that there was a tornado there."
Standa said even though rebuilding was a tough task, nearly everyone went at it with a positive attitude.
