UPDATE: Bicyclist Critically Injured In Crash Dies

Douglas County Investigators say 56 year old James Johnston was the bicyclist who was struck by a car near 260th and West Center Road over the noon hour Thursday.  He was airlifted to an Omaha hospital where he died.

Sheriff's deputies say Johnston was westbound on West Center Road and collided head on with a car.  Johnston was not carrying any ID, so it took a little time to identify him.

The investigation is continuing and the name of the driver that collided with Johnston has not been released.

Millard School District tells News Radio 1110 KFAB  Jim Johnston retired last year but still served as an athletic trainer for the district and was in the building almost every day.  He was a well liked and well respected member of the Millard team. Johnston started working at Millard North 32 years ago and moved to Millard West when that building opened.

The Millard School District Crisis Team will be available to meet with students and staff starting at 7 am Friday morning.
