Carrie Underwood has been writing a lot for her next album and she tells The Hollywood Reporter the new music is a bit of “a new version” of herself. Carrie explains, “It’s just a progression, a different sound without losing myself in it. I’m not taking some crazy musical departure from what I’ve done, but it definitely feels different.

It will feel different, look different, sound different.” Carrie can currently be heard on the radio on her duet with Miranda Lambert, “Somethin’ Bad,” which is on Miranda’s new album, Platinum. She hints that although she doesn’t anticipate another duet with Miranda on her own new project, they will sing together again in the future. “‘Something Bad’ was just the right song, the right time,” says Carrie. “All the stars lined up, and we got to do it. I guarantee that won’t be the last time we sing together, but it just hasn’t happened for this next album.”

Carrie will be going into the studio this month to begin recording her new project, although a timeline for its release has not yet been announced.
