The USS Omaha Memorial Action Committee is holding a special memorial relaunch of the USS Omaha SSN 692 on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Levi Carter Park, just south of the Omaha Airport, located between Abbott Drive and Levi Carter Lake.
The public will have the opportunity to meet and greet former USS Omaha sailors and crew members, as well as other former and current submariners and local military members. Upon completion, the site will also include a Gold Star Memorial for families who have lost loved ones serving in the military. The local Nebraska Federated Garden Clubs lead for Gold Star Memorials plans to attend the relaunch.
Chesterman Coca-Cola Company will provide complimentary water and soft drinks. Sgt. Peffer’s Café Italian Saddle Creek will provide light hors d'oeuvres of Italian sausage bites, meatball chunks and BBQ meatballs as well as homemade bruschetta for attendees, while supplies last.
