Garth Brooks is returning to arenas 30 years after his history-making run of shows in the ‘90s.
The legendary country star confirmed his upcoming “Blame It All On My Roots Tour” on Tuesday morning (July 7) after hinting at an announcement with a mysterious countdown on his website. Brooks, 64, kicked off “what would become the largest concert tour on the planet,” in 1996, states a press release. Now, following a sold-out show at Hyde Park in London, England, Brooks will dive into “a full-scale return to the arenas that made him a legend, headlined by the comeback of the iconic Drum Pod that changed live music forever. …Thirty years later, the Drum Pod returns, and with it, the retro arena era begins again.”
Brooks revealed on Tuesday that he’s kicking off the “Blame It All On My Roots Tour” with back-to-back shows at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Those performances are slated to take place on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. It’s been nearly a decade since Brooks’ tour has stopped through Indianapolis, per a clip he shared on Instagram. Brooks deemed it “the perfect city to start the world tour.” Tickets will be available beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, July 17. Brooks has not announced the full list of tour stops as of publication time on Tuesday
“Going back into the arenas is about putting the stadium show in a box,” Brooks said in a statement. “The excitement gets multiplied by the intimacy. Every seat is a great seat. This is personal.”
Brooks’ “Blame It All On My Roots Tour” serves as the foundation for Killer Live, described as “a groundbreaking new approach to live recording that continues Brooks's tradition of capturing history in real time,” the release states. “No one defined that era [‘90s country] more completely than Garth Brooks. Now, he is bringing every hit he has ever made back to the rooms where it all started.”
