Another COVID-19 induced shortage hits as early as next week

If you just gotta have your bubble tea (Boba Tea), you may not find it as accessible as it once was. It's another impending shortage brought on by the COVID pandemic. One of the largest boba suppliers in Northern California says that people could start noticing the shortage as early as next week.

Bubble tea, a beverage that includes a layer oft tapioca balls, or boba, at the bottom, originated in Taiwan but has become a popular drink pretty much around the world.

Companies are seeing delayed shipments of boba, as well as the key ingredient used to make it, tapioca starch.

Good news though...it could take as little as two months for the boba supply to catch up to demand.
