Despite winning yet another National Championship Game, there's still drama in Tuscaloosa.
Linebacker Mekhi Brown, who was involved in a verbal and physical altercation on the sidelines during the National Title Game, has decided to transfer from Alabama, per reports.
There was speculation after the title game that Brown would not be welcomed back in the Crimson Tide locker room, and he's taken that into his own hands.
Brown, a former 4-star recruit, will transfer to Tennessee State and be eligible to play right away and participate in Spring Practice.
After the altercation during the title game, Brown tweeted, calling out a fan for spreading fake news in stating that he tried to punch Nick Saban. This, of course, was false. But it misses the point, and Brown knows that.
“I really felt like a jerk,” Brown told Yahoo Sports in the Alabama locker room. “That’s not how I am. I wanted to win, that’s what it was. I did something stupid. I could have cost us the game.”
Hopefully Brown has learned from his experience, and we wish him nothing but the best in the final two years of his collegiate career.
