Mounted Police, Drunken Teens, Brawls, Drugs

Drunken college students descend on Fort Lauderdale for Spring Break | Daily Mail Online

Spring Break just started in the South and there has already been plenty of action:

  • Thousands of college students descended onto Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the first weekend of Spring Break
  • Revelers were seen openly smoking drugs, swigging from bottles of vodka or guzzling tequila hidden in water pistols, and performing lewd dance moves on the beach
  • On Friday alone, witnessed eight incidents in which kids were hauled off the beach or cited for drug and alcohol possession within the space of 30 minutes
  • The annual event, which is said to draw 100,000 students to the Florida city, is more of headache for police units whose job is to enforce the 'zero-tolerance policy' towards drugs and alcohol on the beach
  • Michigan State University student Mallory said: 'It kind of sucks because the police are watching over and they have all the dogs coming round smelling everything. We've seen a couple of people get busted but it's not stopping anyone.'
  • Mounted police units were seen patrolling the beach at times confiscating booze; pouring it out on the sand and dumping the containers
