DES MOINES, Iowa —
The man accused of killing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts appeared in court Friday.
Cristhian Bahena Rivera is accused of stabbing the 20-year-old to death and dumping her body in a rural Poweshiek County cornfield last summer.
Tibbetts disappeared in July last year when she went out for a run in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.
The judge confirmed a trial date for November 12 in Woodbury County.
His lawyers also filed a motion to request more time to prepare for an upcoming hearing.
They contend their client's rights were violated during police questioning.
