Ben Affleck has broken his silence about relapsing over the weekend.

Hours after breaking his sobriety at a Halloween party, the 47-year-old was pictured all smiles as he arrived to ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s Pacific Palisades home Sunday morning (October 27), where Affleck spoke on the situation for the first time. “Well, you know, it happens,” the Oscar winner told Daily Mail reporters, according to Us Weekly. “It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me.”

The Gone Girl star’s remarks come in light of video footage published by TMZ that apparently showed Affleck under the influence as he headed out of the UNICEF Masquerade Ball in West Hollywood on Saturday night. Per the clip, the star, wearing a skeleton mask, seemed to stumble out of the venue before nearly falling in the street.

The morning after, Affleck reportedly met with his sober coach before heading to Garner’s place. “She’s upset but always supportive,” an Us source said of the 13 Going on 30 star, with whom the Oscar winner coparents three children. While speaking of his sobriety journey in March, Affleck regarded Garner as the "most important" person in his life. "I’m lucky they got a great mom, and she helps out a great deal with making sure that we coparent in as good a way as possible," he told Today at the time.

Affleck's setback comes two months after he completed one year of sobriety. “Ben is in a great place in his recovery and life," a source told Us back in August. "He continues to want to be the best father and friend he can be.”
