Brad Paisley Helps A Soldier He Met In Afghanistan Surprise His Wife

Brad Paisley is all about planning fun surprises for fans!

On Monday (August 3), the country star turned to Instagram to share a video with fans showing his latest surprise Zoom call to a soldier's wife.

"A text caught my eye this weekend – a picture of me & a soldier named Austin together in Afghanistan. 6 years later he’s on deployment in Qatar, & we pulled off a surprise for his wife at home in Little Rock," Paisley wrote in the caption. "These are the moments I will always remember from this crazy time."

The video starts with Paisley telling fans, "Well, this was the highlight of my weekend," as a screenshot was shown of a text he received from Austin, asking if Paisley could Zoom call his wife. The clip then goes on to show the call in which Austin's wife Amanda seems to be totally surprised.

During the discussion, viewers learn that Austin, who's stationed in Qatar, and Amanda, who's home visiting family, actually have a dog named Paisley. "Here's a good question- Where's Paisley the dog?" the country star asks. Unfortunately, Amanda explains that the dog wasn't with her at the time.

As the call continues, Austin tells Paisley he'll return home to his family in October. Paisley then wraps up the conversation expressing his appreciation for Austin and his sacrifice. "I can't thank you enough for what you do for this country," he says.

Paisley and Austin actually first met back in 2014 when the country star joined then-President Barack Obama on a trip to Afghanistan on Memorial Day weekend to perform for 3,000 troops at Bagram Airfield. A photo taken of the country singer and Austin during that trip is what initially caught Paisley's eye.
