Trisha Yearwood confirmed long-awaited details about her next era of music on Thursday morning (May 1).
The iconic country superstar is stepping into a fresh chapter in a way unlike any other in her decades-long career. Yearwoodâs first-ever fully co-written and co-produced record will arrive this summer. She teamed up with singer-songwriters Erin Enderlin and Sunny Sweeney to co-write the album, titled The Mirror.
âThis is a new chapter for me and one I cannot wait to share with you, so two songs are dropping tomorrow [Friday, May 2] to give you a taste of whatâs to come,â Yearwood announced on Thursday. âI am so proud of this record and hope you love it as much as I loved creating it.â
Yearwoodâs first-ever fully co-written and co-produced album arrives after years of believing she wasnât a songwriter. She shared with Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this year: âIâve always written a little bit, but Iâve never called myself a songwriter. And in fact, I usually will say, if someone says âwe should write,â Iâm like, âIâm not a songwriter.â Because someone told me when I was in college that I was not a songwriter. And I let it be the truth for, you know, just like 45 years. âŚI sort of had an âa-ha (moment)â about like, âwell, why does that have to be the truth?ââ
Yearwood will kick off the weekend by releasing âThe Wall Or The Way Over,â and âBringing The Angelsâ from her upcoming record. Sheâs previously performed those songs at a historic Nashville venue and during a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, respectively. The new music will follow âPut It In A Song,â which Yearwood released last year, and delivered the debut live performance at the 2024 CMT Music Awards in Austin, Texas.
The Grammy winner recently returned to Austin to kick off her spring tour with Enderlin and Sweeney as special guests. Yearwood said when she announced the lineup that Enderlin and Sweeney âare two of my co-writing pals on this new album. I canât wait for you to hear these amazingly talented women as they take the stage on my spring tour. Youâre in for a treat!â See the dates here.
Yearwoodâs new album, The Mirror, will release on July 18.
