Imagine this: you're in the middle of nowhere in the Utah mountains, your ride flips down a cliff, and you wake up with a broken leg, busted ribs, and no phone. Oh—and it’s pitch black. 😳
That’s exactly what happened to Jake Schmitt. He was out exploring with his dog Buddy when his side-by-side rolled 15–20 times down a mountain. Jake was thrown out mid-crash and left seriously injured. But instead of panicking, he did something wild: he used parts of the wrecked vehicle to splint his leg and started crawling. Yep—crawling. For 11 hours. In the dark. With only Buddy’s collar light to guide him. 🐶💡
By sunrise, Jake somehow made it to his truck and drove (yes, DROVE!) to a diner where he asked someone to call 911. Total legend. 💪
He says Buddy never left his side and helped him push through the pain. When they reunited at the hospital, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. 🥹
Jake’s words? “Either I die here, or I figure out how to keep going.” And he did. What. A. Story.
