Miranda Lambert shared a backstage moment from her recent Band Together Texas benefit show that she hosted with Parker McCollum.
Lambert showed the moment she and McCollum rehearsed âa lil George Straitâ backstage at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The two artists, both hailing from the Lone Star State, teamed up to host the fundraising event to help support those impacted by devastating floods last month. Lambert and McCollum rehearsed a rendition of Straitâs âTrueâ backstage. The beloved country legend released the song on his 1998 record, One Step at a Time.
âTrue, like the sun comin' up each morninâ/ Bright as the light in a baby's smile/ Sure as a mountain river windinâ/ Right as the rain fallin' from the sky/ Girl my love for you, is trueâ
Lambert and McCollum each took the stage at the event on Sunday (August 17), along with Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lyle Lovett, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Jack Ingram, Jon Randall, Ryan Bingham, Lukas Nelson and Dylan Gossett. Jason Aldean took the stage as a surprise guest. Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Roger Clemens, Mack Brown, Colt McCoy, Vince Young, Chris Harrison and Emmanuel Acho also made appearances at the live-streamed event. The livestream will be available to watch on Band Together Texasâ website through Sunday (August 24), Lambert confirmed. She also announced that the show raised $8.5 million for flood relief efforts. Proceeds benefit the Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country and Central Texas Community Foundation.
âI have no words for how moving last night was,â Lambert said on Monday (August 18). âSo many friends showing up for our home state we love so dearly. Thank you to everyone who donated time, talent, money, love and energy into making this night one of healing and fellowship. And thank you to everyone who came to the show or tuned in. God Bless Texas đ©”â
