CPR, Moonshine & a Dumpster Dive—You Won’t Believe This Rescue!🦝

When peaches go bad… things get weird.

A nurse in Kentucky pulled off the most unexpected rescue you’ll hear all week—a baby raccoon, drunk off fermented peaches, nearly drowned in a dumpster full of moonshine runoff. 🦝🍑

Misty Combs, a registered nurse, was just doing her thing at the Letcher County Health Department when she spotted a frantic mama raccoon in the parking lot. Turns out, her two babies had fallen into a dumpster next door at the Kentucky Mist Moonshine distillery (yes, really).

One baby was scooped out with a shovel. The other? Face-down in the water, not moving. Most people thought it was a goner. But Misty wasn’t having it.

She jumped into action, doing chest compressions and even flipping the little guy over to slap its back. And guess what? It worked. The raccoon started breathing again!

Wildlife officials took over and confirmed the little guy was totally hammered. They gave him fluids and let him sleep it off. He was nicknamed “Otis Campbell” after the town drunk from The Andy Griffith Show—because of course he was.

The next day, Misty got to release Otis back into the wild, where he reunited with his mom and sibling. Hopefully, he’s learned his lesson about peach moonshine.
