When Grace Benway and Thomas Decourcey started planning their wedding, they pictured Colorado skies and mountain views. But life had other plansâand they didnât hesitate to pivot.
Graceâs dad, Dan, has been battling pancreatic cancer for two years. Now in Stage 4, traveling to the wedding wasnât an option. So Grace and Thomas did something beautiful: they brought the wedding to him.
With just 24 hours to pull it off, the couple said âI doâ at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Nurses helped make it happen, and the hospital turned into a wedding venue overnight.
Dan rolled down the aisle in a wheelchair wearing a sharp gray suit, red tie, and sunglasses. He held Graceâs hand, hugged her tight, and beamed with pride. âHeâs been fighting so much,â Grace said. âHeâs incredible.â
Dan was all smiles, calling Thomas âa great manâ and saying he couldnât ask for anyone better for his daughter. The whole moment was raw, real, and unforgettable.
Sometimes love means changing everythingâjust to make sure the people who matter most are there.
