Imagine spending over 8,000 hours building a LEGO car... and then driving it. That’s exactly what a team of 23 builders did with a life-size replica of the McLaren P1. And no, it’s not just for show—this thing moves.
Made from a jaw-dropping 342,817 LEGO Technic pieces, the car isn’t just a pretty face. It’s got 768 LEGO motors under the hood (well, under the bricks) and can hit 40 mph on a racetrack. That’s faster than most neighborhood speed limits.
It even got the stamp of approval from British F1 driver Lando Norris, who took it for a spin at Silverstone and clocked nearly 4 miles in it. The car weighs in at 2,690 lbs, which is actually lighter than the real McLaren P1. And yes, it has a working steering wheel, electric battery, and real McLaren wheels.
The build took 6,134 hours of design and planning, plus another 2,210 hours to put it all together. They even added a steel frame to keep it sturdy. So yeah, it’s not just a LEGO set—it’s a legit engineering feat.
