America’s fave steak revealed—and it’s not filet mignon! 🍽️

Now this is the kind of report we can all get behind—steak stats! Cargill just released its first-ever “State of Steak” report, and it’s basically a love letter to how Americans eat their beef.

Turns out, we’re pretty loyal to just five cuts of steak. Ribeye takes the crown with 52% of us ordering it at restaurants. Sirloin’s close behind at 46%, followed by filet mignon (45%) and New York strip (43%).

But here’s where it gets spicy: the fifth most popular cut is prime rib. And if that’s your go-to, congrats—you’re officially “old.” Boomers love it, and honestly, so do I. Call me vintage, I don’t care.

The report also found that grilling is our favorite way to cook steak—73% of us prefer it that way. And when we go out for steak, we’re not hitting up fancy spots. Over 90% of steak dinners happen at casual chains like Outback, Applebee’s, and Texas Roadhouse.

So whether you’re team ribeye or team prime rib, this report’s got something tasty for everyone. Check it out and see where your steak loyalty lands.
