Birds Poop on Some Cars More Than Others â Here's Why
Ever feel personally attacked by a bird right after you wash your car? Turns out, it might not be your imagination â birds do have preferences when it comes to where they drop their business.
A new report found that brown cars are the most likely to get bombed, followed by red and black. White and silver? Theyâre the least targeted. So if you were thinking of getting a brown car to hide the dirt... bad news. It wonât hide the white stuff. Also, whenâs the last time you even saw a brown car?
Apparently, birds have supercharged color vision and can see ultraviolet light. Darker colors might stand out more, making them prime poop targets. And shiny surfaces? They reflect like mirrors. During mating season, territorial birds might think their reflection is another bird and go full attack mode â on your hood.
And itâs not just about color. Some car brands get hit more than others. Ram tops the list, followed by Jeep, Chevy, Nissan, and Dodge. Tesla and BMW owners spend the most on cleaning up the mess â with 24% of Americans dropping over $500 a year on car washes and repairs thanks to bird droppings.
So next time youâre picking a car color or brand, maybe ask yourself: âWill this attract bird poop?â
