I came across a story this week that hit me right in the feels, and I had to share it with you. You know how chaotic the holiday season gets, especially in the restaurant world. Long hours, nonstop customers, and the kind of stress that turns coffee into a survival tool.

Well, a chef in Toledo, Jeff Dinnebeil, and his wife, Megan Lingsweiler, decided they weren’t letting all that hard work go unnoticed. Instead of a simple “thanks” or a staff dinner, they took their entire team on a three‑day Royal Caribbean cruise. Yes, the whole crew. And get this, some of their regular customers even tagged along.

One of the staff members said something that stuck with me. Andrew Jackson shared, “Everybody went on there as employees, and when we left and went back home, everybody was like family.” That line alone made my day.

Jeff and Megan didn’t stop at the cruise. They also surprised the team with holiday bonuses because, as they put it, their success exists because of their people.

As someone who works in radio and sees firsthand how much people matter in any business, this one just made me smile. It is a reminder that when you treat people well, they show up for you in ways that matter.

Moments like this are a good reset button. A reminder that kindness still wins. And honestly, who wouldn’t love a boss who hands out cruise tickets?
