Graduations usually follow a script. Name gets called. Walk the stage. Smile for a photo. Done.
This one had a twist people didn’t forget.
When Makaela Muse crossed the stage to get her degree from Texas Tech University, her service dog Sadie walked right beside her. That part wasn’t new. Sadie had been with her through college.
What happened next caught people off guard.
Sadie got recognized too. Not in a big, over-the-top way. Just a simple “dogploma” and a rawhide bone with a red ribbon. The kind of moment that makes a crowd lean in, then break into applause.
It worked because it felt real.
Muse has rare genetic conditions that require constant monitoring. Sadie helps her manage that every day. Not occasionally. Not when it’s convenient. Every day.
So yeah, it made sense that Sadie was part of graduation. She helped make it possible.
Muse earned her degree in animal science and already has her next step planned. She wants to become a large animal veterinarian. If you’re looking for someone who understands animals on a deeper level, this feels like a good place to start.
