This giant blanket fort just set a new record

High school students built the largest blanket fort ever recorded.

The structure covered 14,103 square feet, beating the previous record of 12,291 square feet set in 2024.

The fort was built at a community center with help from volunteers, local groups, and sponsors. Students from West Career & Technical Academy led the design and build.

To qualify for the record, the fort had to follow strict rules:

  • No gaps bigger than 1 inch
  • All blankets had to touch the ground
  • The space inside had to be usable for sitting

A Guinness World Records judge was there to confirm everything met the requirements.

This project also focused on supporting foster and kinship families. Organizers said the goal was to bring people together and raise awareness for kids and caregivers in those systems.

The result was a record-breaking build that doubled as a community event.

Watch how they built it in the video below.
